Pools and Spas POSEIDON, to know everything about pool closing!

In-ground pool closing, vinyl in-ground pool closing, concrete in-ground pool closing, fiberglass in-ground pool closing

Here are the steps to close your pool :

1. Stop the pump

2. In a 2 valves swimming pool, in front of the pool pump

-   Close the skimmer valve and let the valve of the bottom drain open

In a pool with a communicating skimmer

-   Remove the basket of the pump

-   Take the funnel to plug the end of the vacuum pipe

-   Insert the funnel to the bottom of the skimmer

-   Let some water flow in the funnel while draining the pool

In a pool without a bottom drain

-   Remove the basket of the pump

-   Plug the vacuum pipe with the pool vacuum and let it face up at the bottom of the pool

-   Let some water flow in the funnel while draining the pool

3. Put the filter on 'waste' or 'drain'

4. If it's the case, unroll the pipe for the pool draining to the street

5. Start the pump

6. Lower the water level at 6 inches below the backflow

7. Stop the pump

8. Open the skimmer valve and the bottom drain valve if it's the case

9. Remove the pool jets and store them

10. On the filter, unplug the pipe going to the backflow

11. Get the air out of the pipes with a shop vac to remove all the water

12. It is better to remove all the air and water one jet at a time.

13. Plug with teflon all the jets to close them

14. If the conduits aren't pluggable, use expandable plugs and solidify the plug with long nose pliers to make sure it's tight

15. If you are doubting the performance of the plugs, replace them

16. Use the shop vac to remove the air in the pipes between the filter and the backflow

17. If the pool has two valves in front of the pool

- Pour a gallon of antifreeze in the bottom drain pipe

18. Replug all the unions and vales and assure that the valves stays open during winter

19. Remove and store the plugs of the pump and make it turn in all senses to remove all the water

20. Clean the basket of the pool pump

21. Store the pump

22. Remove and store the skimmer and its parts

23. Remove and store the filter's plug

24. Remove and store the filter's manometer

25. Remove the filter's eye made of glass with the sealing rubber.

26. Put the filter's handle in hivernate or between two positions

27. Store the filter's drain pipe or remove the air of the pipe

28. Clean the inside and outside part of the skimmer

29. Remove the air of the skimmer starting with the pipe going to the front of the pump

30. Plug with teflon the pipe going from the skimmer to the pump

If the pool as a communicating skimmer

- Add a gallon of antifreeze with a pipe going to the bottom drain from the skimmer

- Add and fix with a a rod gray expansion of about 24'' the main drain pipe from the skimmer

31. Add a foam in the skimmer

32. Do not forget to put a wooden stick to hold the foam

33. Put the skimmer cover in a bag and put it back on place

34. If it's the case, remove the air of the pool slide pipe

35. Blow from the highest point of the pool slide. Be careful not to put water in the pipes, but disconnect the pipes so that it will flow on the ground

36. Add winterizing chemical products in the pool

37. Winterize the pool heater if it's the case.

For an electric pool heater or a heat pump

-    Remove the drain plug

-    Blow the air of the pipes

-    Tilt the heater slightly forward

-    Place a cloth on the water heater to prevent dirt and snow from getting inside

For a gaz pool heater

-     Remove the drain plug under the entry and the exit of the water and on the sides

-     Remove and store the pressure switch

-     Blow air inside to purge it

-     Close the gas supply to the main canister or the exit near the main entrance

-     Close the gas supply near the water heater

-     Set the strength indicator to "off" position

-     Set the driver indicator to "off'" position

-     Place a cloth on the water heater to prevent dirt and snow from getting inside

For solar water heater

-     Remove the cap on the maximum line that leads to the panel

-     Blow all the places to be sure there is no water

-     Turn off the circuit breaker that controls the automatic actuator

-     Install the caps with Teflon

38. If there is a salt system

-      Blow air into its inlet pipes and water outlet

-      Remove the generator cell and soak for 15 minutes in a cell cleaning solution (up to that time where there are no more white residue on the walls of the metal plates). If there are white residue, prior to the cell, bath in hot water for 10 minutes

-       Store the control panel inside the shed or the house and turn off the circuit breaker

39. If there is an automatic filler

- Remove the filler valve and store it

- Blow air into the hose water

- Drain the tank completely

- Put a plug in the hole expansion of water supply

- Fill the tubes stryrofoam or expansion

- Place a plastic bag over the lid and close it

- Put duck tape on the water inlet pipe to close and prevent water from entering inside

40. If there is an overflow spa

- Drain the water using the pool pump or a submersible pump

- Remove the remaining water by means of a boiler and plastic containers

- Remove the jets and suction lids and store them

- Blowing air into the return pipe and the water jets of water return main temporarily plugging the pipes so that there is only one of both blown

- Blow all pipe rotation

- Remove the remaining water

- Blow out the suction hose using the same technique

- Remove the remaining water

- Dry completely with spa towels

- Install the rubber expansion plugs in the jets and caps can be screwed into the suction pipe. If the pipes do not screw take these caps, use Teflon.

- Check the stability plugs

- Put a protective canvas cover'' type''

- Put a bag of 20 kg in stone each seat (minimum of 4)

- If possible, place a protective fiberglass dome

41. Store the steps and / or scale

42. Store the anchor blocks

43. Store light bulbs

44. Store the springboard and base

45. Store all the small parts inside the pump basket

46. Store the chlorinator and drain water within

47. Discard the contents of the chlorinator in a bag

48. Install the canvas or winter mesh

49. Apply grease on the bolts that could rust during the winter

50. Secure environment of the pool to avoid any risk of injury or drowning

51. Store safely the pool chemicals
